Objetive: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence, demographics, and root configuration C-shaped canals mandibular molars by means cone beam computed tomography in population Metropolitan Region, Chile. Material Methods: 912 (456 first 456 second molars) resulting from analysis 228 CT scans were evaluated. established a panoramic reconstruction axial tomographic sections, classifying presence type through five sections or cuts along root. Data statistically analyzed using 5% confidence interval. Results: Of analyzed, 70 classified as (7.68%), corresponding 58.33% those that presented fused roots. 95.7% canal observed lower molars, occurring more frequently females (n=45, 64.29%). 45.65% cases bilateral most frequent C3 (n=401, 66.63%) according Melton classification. The C-shaped root canal configuration: a review.

Recognition of unusual variations in the canal configuration is critical because it has been established that the root with a single tapering canal and apical foramen is the exception rather than the rule. The early recognition of these configurations facilitates cleaning, shaping, and obturation of the root canal system. "C" configuration, which is an important anatomic variation, presents a t...
